On Saturday, a Shanghai official revealed that the confirmed transmission modes of the coronavirus include direct contact and aerosol.

“Aerosol transmission refers to the mixing of the virus with droplets in the air to form aerosols, which causes infection after inhalation, according to medical experts,” said to China Daily Zeng Qun, deputy head of the Shanghai Civil Affairs Bureau.
“As such, we have called on the public to raise their awareness of the prevention and control of the disease caused by family gatherings,” said Zeng during at a daily media briefing.
Professionals explained that direct transmission occurs when the infection is caused by inhalation of air from a patient who sneezes and coughs. Meanwhile, contact transmission happens when a person comes in to contact with an object tainted with droplets of the virus and then touches the membranes of his mouth, nose, and/or eyes.
The advice given to the people includes avoiding gatherings, opening windows to help with ventilation, having exceptional personal hygiene, and regularly disinfecting their homes, particularly regularly touched areas such as doorknobs.
Globally, there are 37,584 cases of coronavirus infections, with 6,196 in a critical condition. 814 have died from the infection, and 2,982 have successfully recovered.
On Friday, it was announced that the coronavirus, unfortunately, surpassed the SARS total death toll when it reached the number of 800 deaths.
